Operation Mincemeat at Hollywood Pantages Theatre

Operation Mincemeat at Hollywood Pantages Theatre
“One of the season’s most exhilarating new musicals. In the spirit of ‘Austin Powers’, ‘Monty Python’, and the high-concept farce of Alan Ayckbourn, ‘Operation Mincemeat’ is both unabashedly goofy and exceptionally smart.” – The Washington Post

It’s a top secret absurd World War II espionage mission; it’s a riotous, rapid-fire spy spoof; it’s a high-concept farce in a Monty Python-meets-Hamilton-style; it’s a cultural awakening that makes you wonder how anything related to war could possibly be humorous; it’s a performance oozing with panache, truth, with and flawless executions; and it’s the one show that you really should do anything in your power to see: beg, steal, borrow – maybe even disguise a corpse!

Operation Mincemeat has taken the world by storm, as nowhere in history is there a true story as interesting and unusual as this; nowhere will you find a multitalented cast with a more potent acting force than this; and nowhere will you be as entertained, exhilarated, and emotionally moved as this!

That’s right – the biggest, most hilarious true story of the secret mission that turned the tides of World War II for the Allied Forces is now a musical – the best-reviewed show in the West End and one of our favorites, and it is coming to the Hollywood Pantages Theatre soon for a strict limited engagement!

SYNOPSIS

What happens when the country you need to invade has been reinforced by 100,000 German troops? What plans will you come up with to focus their attention elsewhere?

Enter a ragtag MI5 team comprising one greatly ambitious agent, one very meticulous agent, a secretary, and a young author Ian Fleming – and the plan starts to take shape: a stolen dead body, forged documents, and a fake love letter. And thus, the corpse of a homeless man becomes that of “Captain William Martin”. His pockets get stuffed with deeply fake, yet deeply romantic letters, a fake military ID, and even photographs of his fake fiancée named Pam, who is patiently awaiting her lover to return home. “Captain William Martin” makes his appearance on the shores of Spain, where the documents fall into the hands of the German intelligence, and thanks to the false information provided, the German troops are relocated to where the documents suggested an invasion is bound to take place, clearing the way to Sicily, and ultimately turning the tide for the Allied Forces.

It is nearly impossible to believe that a tale as absurd, improbable, and unbelievable as this could be true – yet, every bit of it is factual. It is unusual, it is exhilarating, it is engaging, it entertains, and it educates, but most of all, it is emotionally moving – and jam-packed with clever lyrics, showstopping music, rapid-fire humor, a beautifully dense, yet clear script, and heavy underlying emotion.

Operation Mincemeat hasn’t been hailed as one of Broadway’s best shows of 2025 for nothing – it cannot be missed!

“Is the quite splendid ‘Operation Mincemeat’ ridiculously clever or cleverly ridiculous? Both – this is the musical you didn’t know you needed.” – Variety

HISTORY & LEGACY

In 1943, a British deception operation was undertaken to disguise the Allied Invasion of Sicily, throwing the Axis powers off-track into believing that invasions were bound to take place in Greece and Sardinia. This operation was highly successful, and fast-tracked the Allied victory of World War II.

This hilarious, absurd and slightly improbable operation inspired writers Natasha Hodgson, David Cumming and Zoë Roberts, along with Jak Malone and Rory Furey-King to write a brand new production, as commissioned by the New Diorama Theatre near Regent’s Park, in the London Borough of Camden.

Operation Mincemeat premiered in May 2019, transferring to the Fortune Theatre in London’s West End, opening in March 2023. The production quickly became the best-reviewed show in West End history, obtaining no less than 88 five-star reviews and multiple awards. Operation Mincemeat had its Broadway premiere at the Golden Theatre in March 2025, becoming one of Broadway’s very best.

To date, Operation Mincemeat has received no less than a Stage Debut Award, two Off West End Theatre Awards, three West End Wilma Awards, a WhatsOnStage Award, two Laurence Olivier Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Tony Award, and a Dorian Award.

“It’s not just the best musical I’ve seen; it’s the most rewarding theatrical experience I’ve ever had.” – The New York Times Magazine
