Beauty and The Beast, the musical, premiumd on Broadway back in 1994. There's no reason to sugarcoat this, it was forgotten because of the success of the Lion King. Over the years, there have been multiple attempts to put the story back into the mainstream theater scene. After a successful run in London's West End and an extensive tour of Australia, this new version is currently on a US tour. The Disney's Beauty and the Beast 30th Anniversary North American Tour will be making one of its stops in Los Angeles, California on Saturday 22nd August 2026 at 2:00 PM.

In other iterations of the play, the backgrounds and the style of the costumes were both rather dark. This brought a lot of weight on The Beast character. This new version is taking a completely different approach. The focus is more on Belle, as it should've always been. This time around, the audience is treated to beautifully designed backgrounds and colorful costumes that burst off the stage. When you combine that with the uplifting soundtrack featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice, you start to see why both the British and Australian theater goers took a liking to this revival. Forgive the spoilers, but the bright entrance that Belle's character and the different members of her French village make, provide the ideal counterpart to The Beast's world. What happened in both the UK and Australia was that crowds were super amazed by this point in the play. There's no reason why things will be different on this evening at Hollywood Pantages theatre and the entire US tour for that matter. Gaston's introduction and musical solo tend to be loved by fans and Stephen Mark Lukas delivers a popular performance in the role. It's really Belle who makes this story go though and for this US Tour they've picked a great actress for the role - Kyra Belle Johnson brings the legendary character to life opposite Fergie L. Philippe as the Beast. At the end of the night, you'll be singing and dancing as you walk out of Hollywood Pantages theater.
