A tale of two falling in unlikely love, Moulin Rouge! The Musical recounts to us a classical tale of romance in the equally intimate city of Paris, France. At the center of Montmartre, Christian, a traveling writer who journeys in Paris, France with an aim to succeed in writing, meets the would-be love of his life and performer, Satine, in the renowned nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then struggle to keep their love alive against all odds, as another wealthy benefactor sets his sights on Satine as his woman.

Paying tribute to Baz Luhrmann's original that was created more than 10 years after the 2001 movie, this musical's initial struggle was to keep a relatively old plot relevant to a new audience. The best move of the crew, just like the original motion picture, was to tell the 2019 stage adaptation with unexpectedly new renditions of anachronistic popular numbers. The obvious solution was to supersize the musical numbers and truly turn it into a “a modern retelling of Moulin Rouge”, as the production team refer to it. The product, as watched on the actual stage, was a melting pot of astounding medleys, mash-ups, and numbers. Though the Broadway play stays true to some of the 2001 film's chart-topping numbers including Lady Marmalade, the Broadway show now performs current songs from more recent years including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic performed in unique arrangements.
