Les Miserables at Hollywood Pantages Theatre

Set specifically in the period preceding and during the 1832 French rebellion in Paris, France, the musical, Les Misérables is the life story of Jean Valjean, a local of Paris who was sentenced for 19 years as a consequence of stealing a loaf of bread for his nephew. Despite nearing the end of his sentence, he runs away and seeks a new life free from the law; he then uses a new name as Monsieur Madeleine, while still hiding from the law and Javert, an officer loyal to the letter of the law and determined to catch and bring the ex-convict back to prison.

Transpiring over a span of almost two decades across its 2-hour and 50-minute run, Valjean is intertwined through fated encounters with numerous key figures in every part of the musical – Fantine is one of Jean Valjean's factory employees who gives birth to an illegitimate child; Cosette is the foster baby of Jean Valjean, who by no surprise Fantine’s daughter; Marius, a young Frenchman fighting for the rebellion and the true love of Cosette. Side characters seen in Les Misérables consist of the Thénardiers, abusive innkeepers who also lead a street gang and are consumed with their own personal gain; Eponine, their daughter, who harbors a secret love for for Marius; and comrades of the government opposition specifically Gavroche, a naive but resourceful child, and the rebellion’s fearless leader, Enjolras.

This vibrant group of characters who meet by fate and their unique tales are presented beautifully on live stage, not just with the show's 1800s French-inspired outfit and prop creations, but distinctly with Les Misérables being sung-through fully from start to finish. With famous songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream” and “One Day More” as part of its astounding musical score, the heart-stopping show is able to reveal the underlying motives beneath every character that plays out beautifully in the theater.

Les Misérables’ next season will be in the beloved Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, available for a limited time on Thursday 9th October 2025.
