A REVIVAL OF THE PHANTOM’S GLORY
This new production is set to revive the former glory of The Phantom of the Opera’s original Broadway run. Mapping out an extensive North American for 2026, audiences are set to witness a new and heightened take on the legendary musical, brought to you by Cameron Mackintosh and LW Entertainment.
“I’m really delighted to bring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s PHANTOM OF THE OPERA back to thrill American audiences once again after its phenomenal record-breaking run on Broadway… Our exciting new team, inspired by their predecessors’ glorious work, updated certain aspects of the production that resulted in a dazzlingly fresh version of the much-loved original, which was rapturously received by audiences and critics alike. So, as we raise our even more sensational chandelier across North America, you can once again thrill to Andrew’s soaring music of the night and be swept away by a revitalized PHANTOM in all its glory!” — said Cameron Mackintosh.
“The Phantom made it very clear that it would not be long before his legend would, once again, be told in America… Love, passion and live theatre are what PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is all about.” — said Andrew Lloyd Webber.
A HAUNTING LOVE TRIANGLE
Love. Vengeance. Mercy. It’s a rollercoaster ride through a tale of a musical genius haunting the Paris Opera House, and becoming piqued by a young soprano, Christine. From his shadow existence being ashamed of his physical deformities — one feared by all, he finds love turned into a dangerous obsession. As a struggle between hearts unfolds, he threatens to bring down the opera house itself as romance, mystery, and magic get all tangled up.
The Phantom of the Opera is a great showcase of what grand theatrical storytelling is — a narrative that takes spectators on an emotional ride through the Phantom’s mind. Haunting, captivating, and filled with dark wonder, it’s a bewildering experience, indeed. Through the candle-lit labyrinth of this dark force’s lair to his growing obsession with young Christine, it’s an operatic spectacle every single heart has got to see at least once in their lives. With an operatic score that defined a generation of fine theater, it’s gotten everyone spellbound right from the first act to its breathtaking finale.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS NEW REVIVAL
The Phantom of the Opera’s new production first opened at its birthplace His Majesty’s Theatre in 2021. Well received by critics, it features a reimagined way of telling its legendary tale — making it clear that this isn’t a simple revival of its original run. It has a fresh look, and leveled-up elements that make it a distinct effort to serve justice to the legendary musical that first premiered in ‘86.
Featuring Maria Björnson’s original design, the new London production and new North American Tour are directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn — receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. Based on the original direction by Harold Prince, it stays faithful to its glorious past while introducing new elements that heighten the impact of the Phantom’s power in this tale of a lifetime. With musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, it was reimagined by Chrissie Cartwright.
All in all, audiences can expect a modernized recreation of The Phantom of the Opera’s glorious legacy — one that stays faithful to its original run yet captivates in new heights as its bewildering story, soaring musical score, and extremely talented cast takes it all to new levels. A sweeping score, breathtaking stage illusions, and a visual grandeur with meticulously-crafted costumes, candle-lit scenes, and a live orchestra that takes it all up a notch, it’s a visual-auditoriy feast that’ll definitely get you deeply hooked in every turn.
