“Yet while this singular production evokes the Great Depression with uncompromising bleakness, it is ultimately the opposite of depressing. That’s because McPherson hears America singing in the dark. And those voices light up the night with the radiance of divine grace.” - New York Times
Named after Dylan’s iconic folk track, Girl from the North Country debuted in 2017, presenting at The Old Vic before moving to West End London. The week-long stint was a big success, winning in three Laurence Olivier Award categories.
It then reached an American audience in 2018 at New York's Public Theatre. Here, it won an acclaimed Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. The next year, the show finally performed on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. Despite its run cut short due to the global pandemic, it was nominated seven times at the Tony Awards, earning a Best Orchestrations win.
This 2024, the jukebox musical will arrive at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre as a part of its new run of shows. The indoor stadium offers viewers a truly memorable experience thanks to its spacious seats, remarkable backdrop, and cutting-edge theatrical facilities.
