Set in a guesthouse during the early nineties in Duluth, Minnesota, we are introduced to the company of wayward travelers whose lives are changed forever as they navigate the ups and downs of life, music and hope. Search for the elusive glow at the end of the night with the Girl from the North Country on Friday 17th May 2024 at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre! In this on-stage historical fiction, viewers will live through two and a half hours of incredible Eugene O’Neill-esque chronicles tuned to the tracks of the last century's most celebrated songwriter.
Set in Duluth, Minnesota during the Great Depression, the story focuses around a derelict boarding house owned by the Laine family. It follows the criss-crossing lives of the wayward travelers that come across it, from the lonely, adopted daughter Marianne Laine to the luckless boxer Joe Scott. Sins will unravel, and inner demons made clear. Amidst the unrelenting shadow of a devastated nation, can the light of hope shine through?
The musical employs the book and direction by Laurence Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson. It exhibits a magnificent score from Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bob Dylan with twenty hand-selected songs, which include hits like "Slow Train" and "Like a Rolling Stone."

Named after Dylan’s iconic folk track, Girl from the North Country made its debut in 2017, presenting at The Old Vic before committing to London's West End. The week-long stint was a big success, clinching three wins at the Laurence Olivier Awards.
The musical then reached an American audience in 2018 at New York's Public Theatre. Here, it won an acclaimed Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. The next year, the show finally opened on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. Despite the abrupt cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic, it received seven Tony Award nominations, earning a Best Orchestrations win.
