Girl From The North Country at Hollywood Pantages Theatre

Authored and piloted by venerated playwright Conor McPherson and featuring award-winning orchestrations by Simon Hale, Girl From the North Country reimagines twenty iconic songs by the legend himself Bob Dylan in an original fashion!

The unique narrative of the musical unwraps in a homey retreat in Minnesota in the difficult times of the Great Depression. It's a story that zooms into the lives of the individuals staying there - guests and long-term residents alike. Each of them carries their own cross and what makes this play unique is how it interlaces all these characters' lives.

The theatre set will include everyone’s much-awaited hits including “Forever Young,” “Like A Rolling Stone” “All Along The Watchtower,” “Slow Train Coming,” and “Hurricane”

An interview with The Marlowe explores how director Conor McPherson had no experience with directing a musical prior to this project and found himself revelling in the newfound experience. He highlights that when it comes to a straight play, the dilemma lies in entertaining everyone solely through the dialogue and acting. However, in a musical, there arise instances where someone might advise, “Shall we have a refreshing pause for everyone's benefit?” and you'd gladly agree, thinking it sounds quite charming.
